I am aware that I am neglecting this blog lately, and I apologize above all to my English speaking readers. As a matter of fact my (French)
photoblog is taking most of my time and energy these days, hence the lack of posts.
Even this post will only be a sort of replica of the latest entry on its little brother-blog.
Anyways... do you know nagashi sohmen?

Nagashi sohmen (flowing noodles) are a summer favorite. The noodles are placed in a flume of bamboo that carries cold water. As the sohmen pass by, you have to pluck them out with your chopsticks, dip them in sauce and yummie!

But this requires a fair amount of preparation...

A bamboo tree has to be cut in two lengthwise and emptied, which is not exactly easy.
But I think that the preparation of the whole thing is what makes it fun, and what people are looking forward to.

This was my first nagashi sohmen the other day at our friends' parents in a nice countryside farmhouse. I think I did quite well with catching the noodles, it wasn't as hard as it looks!
